THE BLACK ORCHID BAND

     There's a lot of energy and experience that goes into a Black Orchid show, and we have fun entertaining you!

     Richard Knight, the face and voice of the band, is the consumate entertainer and engages with the audience like no other! He's been singing for over 40 years, working with groups like Night Journey, New Brothers of Soul, and many others.

     Richard Novini is the "Professor' or "Doctor" and leader of the band! Covering bass and keyboards, he works out the arrangements and their styling so we don't sound just like any other group out there. After 40+ years and bands like Generation, Alter Ego, Soul Force, Night Journey, JD Project Trio, and others, he makes it look too easy.

     Michael Travis, the man behind the beat, drums up stylings too numerous to count! For over 30 years, with bands like Soul Force, Zoom, Jessie Grooms, BB Queen, Robin Banks among others, it looks like he's having too much fun doing what he loves most - kickass drummin'!

     Ron "the Rifleman" Coates can play the guitar with the best of them and we got him! With influences from country and southern rock, Ron brings a wow factor when we cut him loose on stage. His 45+ years with bands like the Joe Hartley Band, Rarebreed (couple of Canadian Top 40 hits), Chick Band, Zoom, Custom Fit, and others make him stand out like no other.

     Brian Yamamoto, our "brass section" and percussionist, is a man of many talents. With a background of classical, jazz, and contemporary music (having studied jazz performance with the late and great Oscar Peterson) and performing with composer/big band leader Phil Nimmons, as well as various Toronto R&B, jazz big bands, Broadway, and small ensembles, he brings a worldly touch of class to the band!

     So there you have it! The vital stats of a show band like no other! Come on out and enjoy the music!!
